Understanding Medicare Part C and Part D Costs and Coverage

Original Medicare may leave you with some unpredictable out-of-pocket medical costs. Medicare Part C and Part D plans offer additional coverage for some of the benefits and costs not included in Part A and Part B.

Please note: Reliance Medicare Advisors offers plans from Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna, Devoted Health, Freedom Health, Healthy Blue, HealthSpringSM, Humana, Optimum HealthCare, Simply Healthcare, UnitedHealthcare ®, and Wellpoint.

What’s not covered by Original Medicare (Parts A and B)?

Original Medicare (Parts A and B) doesn’t cover everything. Some services and items that are generally not covered are:

  • Most prescription drugs
  • Routine dental care
  • Routine vision care
  • Hearing aids and fitting exams

What does Medicare Part C cover?

Medicare Advantage plans combine all the benefits of Original Medicare Parts A and B, and may include your Part D Prescription Drug coverage built right in. Plus, some plans may include additional benefits. Medicare Advantage plans may have a monthly premium, and you must continue to pay your Part B premium, unless it is paid on your behalf by Medicaid or another authorized third party.

What does Medicare Part D cover?

These plans help lower the cost of Part D prescription drugs. You can get this coverage through either a standalone Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) or a Medicare Advantage plan that includes drug coverage (MAPD).

Understanding all-in-one Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plans
